PlumbPrep is an independent UK plumbing revision website. The data controller can be contacted at plumbprep.co.uk@gmail.com.

Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address and a hashed password managed by Firebase Authentication. We also hold a Firebase user identifier (UID) that is used internally to link your account to your subscription.

Subscription information. If you subscribe to PlumbPrep Pro, we store your Stripe customer ID, Stripe subscription ID, subscription plan, current status and billing period dates in Firestore. We do not store card numbers or full payment details; these are handled exclusively by Stripe.

Quiz progress. Active quiz sessions and results are stored locally in your browser’s localStorage on your device. This data is not transmitted to our servers or stored in the cloud.

Cookie preferences. Your cookie consent choice is stored in your browser’s localStorage.

Technical data. Our hosting provider (Vercel) and Firebase may collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, device information and pages visited as part of normal infrastructure operation. We do not separately add analytics or advertising tracking.

Support correspondence. If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence to handle your enquiry.

• To provide the service — creating and managing your account and delivering quiz content (lawful basis: contract).
• To manage your subscription — processing payments through Stripe and granting or revoking Pro access (lawful basis: contract).
• To prevent fraud and maintain security — monitoring for unauthorised access (lawful basis: legitimate interests).
• To respond to support requests — handling your enquiries by email (lawful basis: legitimate interests / contract).
• To comply with legal obligations — retaining transaction records as required by law (lawful basis: legal obligation).

We retain your account data for as long as your account remains active. If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records by law (for example, payment transaction records required for tax purposes, which we keep for six years).

Quiz progress stored in your browser is under your control and can be cleared by clearing your browser’s localStorage at any time.

We share data with the following third-party processors only to the extent necessary to operate the service:

• Google / Firebase— provides authentication (Firebase Authentication) and database services (Firestore). Data is processed under Google’s terms and may be processed in the United States or other countries outside the UK. Google maintains appropriate data-transfer safeguards.
• Stripe — processes subscription payments and manages the customer billing portal. Stripe may process data in the United States. Stripe is certified under relevant data-transfer frameworks.
• Vercel— hosts the PlumbPrep website and serverless functions. Vercel may collect standard request logs. Data is processed in accordance with Vercel’s privacy policy.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data to any third party.

You have the right to:

• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention obligations)
• Object to or restrict how we process your data in certain circumstances
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
• Receive your data in a portable format
• Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk
